1c-16c Mother's Day, Wisconsin, Parks, Souvenir Sheets & Air Post Special Delivery, Farley Presentation Sheets, Imperforate (738 var-751 var, CE1 var). Nos. 750 & 751 Complete Sheets of Twenty Panes, others Cpl. Sheets of 200. Each Sheet is
one of the First Five Printed on each respective press run, signed in Green by James A. Farley in sheet margin along with presentation comments to C. B. Eilenberger the Assistant PMG. The Five Sets of Imperforate Sheets were assembled for donation to
high officials, all other sheets being gummed & perforated for public consumption. These are The Original Farley Imperforates which created such a public clamor, causing the subsequent issue of the "Farley Special Printings." The colors of these
sheets is close to or the same as the original perforated stamps but in most cases do not resemble the later "Farley Special Printings" which were printed to appease the philatelic public. There is one other partial set in the hands of the
Smithsonian Institute, although not believed to be compLeteas this one is. The set belonging to the late President Franklin D. Roosevelt was broken up after being sold at auction in 1946. A few stamps are damaged due to careless handling,
nevertheless an Extremely Valuable Lot of Incalculable Rarity. In All Likelihood Unique in a Set this complete and should merit Catalogue Listing, Estimate Net $25,000.00 Search for comparables |
