8c Kossuth, Numeral "8c" and Blue Color Omitted (1118 var.). A Spectacular Error occurring in the U.L. Plate Number Block of a complete sheet, caused by a fold-over of the sheet corner before the final
printing in Blue, The gummed side of the fold-over (which runs through the corner of the U.L. stamp) shows the Blue Plate Number and that part of the Blue Ribbon and Olive Branches missing from the stamp, the numeral "8c" is entirely omitted from
this stamp, the stamp immediately below has the Blue Ribbon and Olive Branches Entirely Omitted. A Major Error of the same nature and created in the identical manner as the famous 1931 2c Red Cross Issue with Red Cross omitted. Very Fine, This newly
discovered error is a major variety of equal stature to the Red Cross Error, and so far as is known, this piece is Unique (Image Magnifier)Search for comparables |
